Trap for vine weevil
The trap for vine weevil (otiorhynchus) consists of a wooden board with grooves. In these grooves is a gel filled with 2.5 million nematodes. Vine weevils are nocturnal beetles that hide during the day under all kinds of materials on the ground between plants, such as pots, leaves, branches and also our wooden boards. The adult vine weevil will hide under the board lined with gel with nematodes that will infect it after a few minutes and make it die within a week. The trap will infect the weevils for six weeks.
Directions for use
- Remove the vine weevil's alternative shelters such as dead leaves and bark so that the vine weevil hides preferably under the board.
- Lightly moisten the soil where you will place the traps. The best solution is to place them in a shady area near vulnerable plants.
- Remove the board from the package and place the trap on the ground with the grooves and gel facing down. If the gel falls out of the grooves, dampen it slightly. The gel will swell and stay in place in the grooves.
- Make sure the board doesn't fully dry out for six weeks (rain or regular watering of plants is sufficient).
When to use
The vine weevil trap can be used from the beginning of May to October. The nematodes are most effective at a soil temperature between 12°C and 30°C.
Treatment area
One trap is sufficient for 10 m² or 5 linear meters of hedge.
